About Vijaya Bank

Vijaya Bank was founded by a combination of farmers motivated by A. B. Shetty on 23rd-Oct-1931 in Mangaluru (District of Dakshina Kannada) Karnataka State. Since it was built on Vijayadashami Day, which was called Vijaya Bank.

When the financial chaos formed out of the Great Depression of 1927 to 30, Shetty advanced leading Bunt characters to start a bank to increase credit means at a lower rate of business to allow the farmers to improve their lands and stop them from coming into the parts of money lenders. Therefore, Shetty committed fourteen Bunts and set Vijaya Bank on 23rd Oct 1931. At the time of starting, the Vijaya bank had an approved capital of five(5) lakh and declared capital of two (2) lakh. The paid-up initial was Rs.8,670.

Vijaya Bank was a government sector bank with its corporate building in Karnataka (Bengaluru) in India. It was one of the nationalized govt banks in Asia. The Vijaya bank allowed a wide range of commercial services and products to consumers through its many delivery ways. The Vijaya bank had a system of many branches throughout the nation and over four thousand customer touchpoints with 2000+ ATMs.

On 17th-Sep-2018, the Indian Govt introduced the organization of Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank with the Bank of Baroda, pending permission from the provisions of the 3 banks. The organization was established by the Union Cabinet & the provisions of the banks on 2nd-Jan-2019. Under the articles of the merger, Vijaya Bank & Dena Bank shareholders got 110 & 402 investment shares of the Bank of Baroda, individually, of face value two for every one thousand shares they continued. The merger is valid from 1st-Apr-2019.

The Vijaya bank grew a registered bank in the year of 1958. The Vijaya Bank chairmanship is Shri. Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty regularly grew into a great All India Bank with nine smaller Public banks joining with it from 1963 to 1968. In the year 1965, the Vijaya bank registered its logo.
